Biometrics: Standards

  • Cathy Tilton made a good summary of the standards, US & ISO, in her presentation at the BC2004.
  • A bit older: Status of Biometric Standardization by Fernando Podio (chairman of many US and international standard committees about biometrics)
  • BioAPI: the BioAPI Consortium was formed to develop a widely available and widely accepted API that will serve for various biometric technologies. This is becoming an ISO standard.
  • (2006) The Biometric Catalog website contains a biometrics standards description
  • (2007 Aug) The National Biometric Security Project publish a list of emerging and published standards + an article The Maturation of Biometric Standards (Sep 2007)
  • (2007 Oct) Published International Standards Developed by ISO/IEC JTC 1/SC 37 - Biometrics
